Someone should remind Chevy about that, too.

Looks good - maybe they can stuff a fun engine in it too.

Probably not. I wouldn’t call the Cruze slow, but it’s probably more designed for mileage than anything.

Maybe the 2.0T will fit - would make a nice little FoST competitor. The 1.4T is a pretty tunable motor. With a chip it gets to around 170hp and it can get to 200+ with a few bolt-ons... I suspect just due to the styling there will be a decent mod scene with these if they actually can sell a few in the first place.

The 1.5 is a different engine family than the 1.4. But I'm sure a chip/tune will be available in a year or so.

Repair procedures for it are in GM Service Information so that should mean it gonna start rolling into dealers very soon.

It’s also listed on the EPA’s site (fueleconomy.gov), so that’s also a good sign.

They are about to start shipping into the dealers, on hold currently for quality inspections. Pretty common for first batch vehicles, we have invoices ready for 9 coming into our dealer already.

Does the hatch not use the 1.4T? Chevy lists the 2017 sedan as having the same 1.4T as the previous generation... I haven’t actually looked under the hood of one yet.

OK looks like we were both somewhat wrong! It uses a 1.4T, but it is from the same new engine family as the 1.5T. Interestingly, Trifecta already has a tune for the 1.5T, so I suspect the 1.4 will follow soon. Looks like there might be naturally-aspirated 1.5L available in some markets outside ofthe USA.

2.0T will fit, they use that engine in the Buick... Verano? I don’t know if that’s the right model. Anyways, it’s Buick’s “Cruze”, same platform and everything, but with the 2.0T. GM won’t do it, I suspect, because they hate fun. And it would potentially cut into Malibu 2.0T sales.
But you’re right, the 1.4T is decent, and with a tune its so much fun. I de-tuned mine for a bit (warranty work) and at first I was sad, but it’s actually not terrible even without the tune. But it’s a lot better with it.

I think the Cruze still gets a 1.4, but you’re right, its a new family/architecture. And it’s direct injection.

It’s on sale now, if you mean the Cruze in general... are you specifically looking at the hatch?

Specifically the hatch. Seems neat.

It has a rather fat ass from that angle, but otherwise yeah. Also, and this is odd because I like burnt orange on cars, but I don’t like this one you have pictured.
I’d like to see one in lime green.
